I've gone thru a similar situation this past week with my 17 month old. I thought they were flea bites cause we have a dog and cat, but they went away and reappeared in other spots too quickly. So, I THINK that it was hives! I used some cortizone cream on them and it was over in a day or so.

i heard they are just milk bumps. A lot of small kids get them, mostly on their face. Its not a big deal, they'll go away.

It could be a number of things, you could check into some of these: sand fleas or mites in the grass at home or at the playground/park, allergies to carpeting fibers or cleaners, liquid fabric softener, or it might not be your pets or your home (it maybe someone/somewhere else) causing this allergic reaction).

just a thought.....it may be still fleas..did you know fleas can live in carpets for year?did you recently move?
-
bedbugs are a possibility. I read that they are a problem in NYC.

I would think if it was fleas you would eventually find one on yourself. But if he plays outside alot they may be biting him them. Are the bites close together or are they here and there?

Chiggers? I'd bet my money on that, especially if they are really itchy.

Is your son in daycare? (Or anyplace where he intermingles with other kids) If so, it could be scabies. I had to deal with that as a child. My cousin got it from his daycare then promptly passed it on to my brother and I. It itched pretty badly, and we had little bumps mostly on our arms and legs. We had to get a prescription lotion that cleared it up within a couple of weeks.

My daughter had some thing similar. It turn out to be an allergic reaction.

Fleas can be anywhere...we looked at the outside of a house once that we were interested in buying and when we left we had fleas all over our legs! He could be getting them from outside or neighbors pet...something like that

By the way, humans can carry fleas! http://www.the-piedpiper.co.uk/th5a.htm

probably either a allergic reaction, or possibly a spider bite. We have yellow sac spiders in utah that can cause bumps like that, and they only come out at night. However if this was the case they would burn, and heal into a scar around the size of a dime. I would look at allergies first, then insects.

You can carry a pregant flea or two with you into the house, and then you have them. And some people taste better to bugs than others. It could happen.
