I have entered lots of tournaments and the time always seems ot vary a little. In my current league, we have to play 36 moves in the first 75 minutes. After the 36th move for black, an extra 15 minutes is added to the clocks. All moves then have to be completed before the time runs out. This is much better than having to go to arbitration.... This is the rules for our league, but it does seem to vary a little. For rapidplay and blitz game it is better defined:- A `Rapidplay` game is one where either all the moves must be made in a fixed time from 15 to 60 minutes; or the time allotted + 60 times any increment is from 15 to 60 minutes. A `blitz` game is one where all the moves must be made in a fixed time of less than 15 minutes for each player; or the allotted time + 60 times any increment is less than 15 minutes.
