pertaining to the study of population statistics, changes, and trends based on various measures of fertility (adding to a population), mortality (subtracting from a population), and migration (redistribution of a population).

A demographic is a particular bit of data -- someone's age can be a demographic, as can gender, SES, marital status, religion, etc.
Demographics show things like age groupings in a specified area, religious preferance of a specified arean, income levels of a specified area. Things of that nature. They are often times used for marketing or opinion research.
