What are your feelings regarding breastfeeding in public and private locations.

I breastfed 2 children. My feeling is that it is a private thing. There is such a thing as a pump and there is no real reason to breastfeed in public unless you were just too lazy to plan ahead. It makes people uncomfortable for the most part; at least it did in my day and I feel it's better doing it in private area.

There is NOTHING wrong with breast feeding a baby, I would prefer if they would try to be discreet, but that is not always possible. -
It's unfortunate that people of society are so lame that a natural thing bothers them...I am a people watcher if I see it i feel embarased. People might think I was looking to check it out. When in fact I am looking at everyone. When someoine saw me looking there they would probaly say....friggen pervert....So I think that sucks.

In most cultures there is no problem or offence if children or adults eat in public, kiss in public or cuddle in public. Why then should there be a problem if a baby needs to feed in public. Yes there is some exposure of a female's breast at that time. But jeez, it's a mother feeding her baby. I don't find it offensive and I have breastfed in public and I didn't care who saw. Once I was asked to stop and go somewhere private to do that. Well, the only private place for me to be at that time and place was the ladies toilets. Would you eat in a toilet? No? Why should my baby have to do that. (This was many years ago now). If a woman needs to feed her baby in public then she should be allowed to do so. Generally most women want, not necessarily privacy, but some peace and quiet to feed their babies, not because it is shameful or anything, but just quiet time to feed and relax with their baby. It should be a mother's choice where and when she feeds her baby, not something dictated by others because if might offend someone. If someone is offended then perhaps they should look elsewhere or be elsewhere.
