  • There are two concerns, 1 minor and 1 major. The minor concern is that your car will run an emissions system self-test while your fueling up. This would cause the "Check Engine" light to turn on. The MAJOR concern is that the car will slip out of Park/Neutral while you are fueling up. If that happens the car may move, which could cause the filler nozzle to fly out and spray fuel around, possibly starting a fire.
  • I have a tendacey to do that in the winter time. Nothing has ever happened but I have seen where sparks can ignite a fire. They say to always touch your vehicle before you start pumping to prevent sparks. +3
