great question! a bullet never hit him, causing an injury. i've never heard of anyone shooting at him, either. he, know doubt, always lived in fear of assassination, perhaps that's why he limited his presidential run to running against a shoe-in president (carter) in 1980. i think that everybody who knew him really liked him. they knew of his faults, but respected him for his charm and achievements.
