Some people like doing drugs for the rush and excitement that makes them wonder if they're gonna live through it. Obviously they do because it'll wear down (sadly) and they're busy finding the next fix. A lot of rape victims become more sexually active than the supposedly "normal" non- abused. I think if it is an addiction as you say, then it could be overcome. Since some people do have such overbearring tendencies to self destruct I'd like to think so too. It's a matter of replacing with something more valuable such as love.

I have no idea. I don't see how inflicting pain on oneself helps to ease other pain..it just exacerbates it. Another totally illogical action by totally illogical people! :(

I think that self harming takes what is an emotional pain, and MAKES it a physical pain to try to deal with it. It is a way that some cutters, for instance, says makes them feel real, and alive. It is something that needs to be taken VERY seriously and treated very quickly. There is always some sort of trauma behind a person's desire to self harm.

cutting, self harming - whatever you want to call it is a addiction. by creating pysical pain we can forget about the emotional pain.
