Help answer this question below.

I have a 36" rca tv model f36650 it has a high pitch whine as soon as plugged in, i have read that it may be flyback or the HOT, or horizontal transistor NTE2324, does anyone have schematics or know which one is that cause??? thanks for any help

    All TV's today have protective circuits, if something isn't right, it will shut down. The power supply is a pulse width modulated type and could be the noise that you are hearing. But most likely the HV diodes have shorted which are molded into the flyback. If you put a scope on the HV transistor case, and see a pulse of at least 50v, the transistor is good, but it should be around 1000v if the HV diodes are good. Put the scope on the highest range, or you will be fixing it next.

    The HV transformer is long NLA from the factory & a nte generic will not last more than 24 hours anyway
