Do you have access to cooking facilities? Do you have a fridge? If so, plan your meals carefully - buy only what you need, write a clear shopping list, and stick to it - but be prepared to change the menu options if you find special offers. Make the meals yourself rather than buying prepared foods. Pasta meals are always a good option - you can fill up on cheap pasta with just a little sauce. There are some good books around for students http://www.studentrecipes.com/

This is a pretty good place to start: http://www.yumyum.com/student/ What I do is I plan what meals I will cook for each day of the week (I only do 1 at a time) and list all the groceries I need for the recipes. Then I list all the other things I like to have on hand (Pop, milk, cereal, frozen waffles, etc.) Bring the list to the store, and ONLY BUY WHAT'S ON THE LIST. It's hard, but once you get out of the habit of impulse buying it will get easier. If you take the time each week to plan ahead you can save yourself a lot of time, money and you'll eat healthier. Good luck!
