You should give it a chance. Take it slowly and see if it's right. You should get to know him/her before you claim to love her though.

Not always. Overcaution can lead you to miss out on a great person. Even if you find her, you may hold back so much that she thinks you're not interested and leaves. Taking calculated risks is an essential part of dating.

Go with your feelings. You might be right or you might be wrong, but either way you will not have any more control by holding back on your feelings.

It's neither wise nor unwise. It is a self defense mechanism which, I believe, can indeed prevent one from truly having an intimate relationship.

Wise if your goal is to play it safe. But unwise because unless you take the risk, you may miss out on the greatest joy of your life. I think at the end of my days, I'll be much more likely to regret the things I didn't do than the things I did. And that includes taking a chance on love. I can play it safe in my coffin. But I'll probably find some mischief to get into there too;)

it all depends on your resoning are basing it off of past relationships or knowledge of the person or something else all together.
