• Awesome answer. It IS unbelievable that so many people are responding negatively. Choose one wrong word and the pretentious grammar police attack you. Funny thing, they don't even respond to the questions that actually do plain out say "Write this for me." The asker obviously meant editor, but if they knew it was called an editor they wouldn't have had to ask the question in the first place, correct? I can do nothing here but laugh out loud.

• Yeah, I know what you mean...I figure a Proofer, looks for glaring errors in a written piece, while an Editor makes suggestions for making it flow better, moving bits around or saying, loose this part it's not moving the story forward....or expand on this part. I call them Editors!

• Of course not. If you are going to have someone write a book for you and you just paste your name on it, that's not learning anything but how to cheat. If you are going to write something and have someone show you how to write it better, that is how you learn.

• Honestly, anyone with half of a brain should be able to discern between bad judgment in word choice and deliberately asking for someone to write for them. When I read the question I immediately knew what they meant. The attacks, in my opinion, seem to only be people who have nothing better to do than pick apart someone's grammatical faults. Why not give them kudos for being interested in writing rather than something mindless?
