My mother told me that she could hear the The Hindenburg explosion from the Lakehurst Naval Air Station,in New Jersey, from her front porch in Philadelphia.
The original design engineers actually considered using 'hot air' for lift and ruled it out in favour of the lighter hydrogen that it used for a greater lift instead, with disastrous results ...
It was painted with rocket fuel.

1) They added an odour of garlic to the gas so they'd know if their was a leek.
2)They didn't serve garlic bread on board
3)The only lighter allowed on board was a Zippo that was chained to a table in the smoking area.
