Do you reckon your average American politician aware that the French do actually have to pay a % of their health care (you get a bill!), on top of all the taxes they and their employers put in? It's still 6 billion Euros in deficit despite this.

The Europeans are no model for us despite how they would like to be. Germany and Japan are the two we might want to learn what to do. The others what not to do.

- especially when we have a fantastic health service that provides for all and paid for by the tax-payer. When my father was dying of cancer in the UK, he got the best treatment and facilities available. When my former father-in-law was dying of cancer, he got some treatment and a hefty bill....which took the family years to pay off, plus all the extras etc., Yeah what a system the Americans want the world to follow - where 85% of the population cannot afford the basic medical treatment and that doctors, hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical companies charge way beyond extortionate rates....

I reckon the only thing the average American politician knows about health care is whatever the deep pockets of the health/pharmacutical industry lobbies tell them.

Health care is just getting silly.
It's like auto having insurance that will cover every accident, no matter who is at fault.
And it has no deductible.
And it pays for your oil changes.
And it pays for car washes.
And floor mats.
And there's absolutely no limit on how often you can use it.
And everyone involved makes more money, the more claims you put in.

How much would auto insurance like that cost? I doubt anyone could afford it. Better to just pay for it by govt borrowing.
