Yes, this is a classic symptom of a bad starter motor.
A trick you can try when the car won't start is tapping on the starter motor with a broomstick or similar object.
If the car starts, that's confirmation that the starter motor is bad.

You're reading I have a 1990 Toyota pickup. When the engine gets hot and I shut the engine down, it will not start. It will start if I jump it and it start right up when it cools down. Can the Starter build resistance when the engine get hot.
