Not at all, as long as you stay away from laminates and tiles that are too close in color. If you're doing a light wood laminate, stay away from tiles of a similar color, and if you're doing a dark wood, stay away from dark tiles that have a similar color. Having very similar colors in different textures on flooring can often look like a mistake.
I've seen it and it looks fine. I would recommend that you lay the laminate so that they "boards" so they don't look like they are added to the edge of the tile. So long ways along the place where they meet.
Only you can answer that question. If you think it would look weird, then it probably would.
However, if you think it would look nice, have it installed. It will look nice then. It does not matter what anyone else says unless it is positive.
