• Release Candidate. It is Beta 2 if you follow that. I have heard that it is not different much from the final version.

• This is the message when I went there: Sorry, the Windows 7 RC is no longer available for download. If you’ve got the download and need a product key, they’ll be available until October 21, 2009. Does that mean I can't get the RC? As you can probably tell I'm computer illiterate. I only know how to use email, the internet and type!

• Yea, I guess you can call me a computer tech :)
  I just saw that the download is ended for download. You can however torrent it easily. Then get a product key from that website and activate it.

• I already ordered a new one and will have it shortly. I'm nervous because I've heard both bad and good things about Vista; and that's the OS it will have. I'm using a barrowed laptop at the moment.

  You will hear good and bad things about ANY Microsoft OS. The bottom line is this: Will it work for the applications YOU need?

  And the answer to that is very likely "yes". Microsoft Windows of ANY version is likely to satisfy just about anyone's needs. Don't worry about it!

• Thank you Chief, that's true; but I had Windows Millenium and it was the worst! I always had problems with it. I'm hoping Windows Vista is better than that one was!

• I would hope so. I've talked with many who have had little, if any, problems with it.

  I rather suspect that many people have problems with their OS because they indiscriminately load up programs, features, games, and such without considering the impact all those added bells and whistles may have on their OS.
  .
  My wife, for example, owns the desktop. As such, I let her do what she wishes with it, with little changes by me. I don't even run updates on her computer without her knowing about it, because the FIRST person who gets in trouble when she has ANY problems would be ME. This way, it's HER computer and HER problems...I am thus the one who fixes them without being blamed! (I'm smart sometimes!)

• Anyway, if you would look at her desktop, you would see a shining example of how disorganized and haphazard she is: she has between 90 and 100 icons on her desktop. And the rest of her computer is the same way...no thought to organization or how what she does affects her computer speed and stability.

  She does not ever clear out her history, cookies, and such. She does not organize her favorites into folders for easy location. She does not save her files under any kind of organization (well...barely). She does not keep her programs running in the background to a minimum (so her speed suffers). She does not defrag her HD. She does not clean unnecessary files off the HD onto backup drives, nor does she backup her files.

  As a result, she has become unsatisfied with Internet Explorer, because of instabilities. She now uses FireFox, which is fine with me. I went into IE and cleaned up a bunch of unnecessary add-ons and that fixed her instabilities.

  My laptop, which runs XP just like hers, NEVER has ANY problems like she does. That's because I keep my relatively clean of extra BS that just isn't necessary or desired.
