... would you prefer no roads, no bridges, no airports, no running water, no sewage treatment, no electricity, no schools, no hospitals, no fire fighters, no police, no military, and no government at all ??? ... these things are all expensive and taxes are what pays for them ... I have never met anyone who loves paying taxes, but I have also never met anyone who would love the above mentioned alternative either ... taxes are to be tolerated and checked for corruption and misuse, but unless there is misuse, there is no reason to complain ...
The government steals from you to support their frinds. You know... Goldman Sachs, Israel ... It goes on and on.
Slightly, but that's the price we pay for an advanced society that wouldn't exist otherwise. Well, it could... If highways were owned by private companies every road would have a toll, you'd have to hire someone for your personal protection, pay for your and your child's education, pay a for-profit company to deliver your mail. You'd pay for it anyway, probably more because a private company would also want to make a considerable profit that would need to increase by at least 3% a year. Trust me, you wouldn't want private industry controlling those things, we'd all be fleeced.
The more you pay in taxes the more you get.In some countries the taxes(up to 50%) are considerably higher, though no one complains for they get good social services for all in that society, and all are taken care of from cradle to grave. If you pay little in taxes, and the US has very low taxes, you do not get much from it.

... write that in a letter and send it to your local government, along with a stamped & self addressed envelope ...
.
... and read a law book, especially the sections on local tax laws ...

Many taxes are based on a progressive system. People are taxed based on thier ability to pay. It's a more effective, and fair, method than trying to get say... $5000 a year from every household. Most people won't have it. That leaves alot of people in prison for non-payment of taxes.
