Incredibly significant!
I think it should not be underestimated for its significance not just in the UK, and Europe, but in countries throughout the world. While some aspects may be entirely redundent, maybe the habeas corpus is one of its most important legacies which we still see in so many countries.
The MC paved the way for civil rights in constitutions, bills of rights, even perhaps the UDHR. It was a landmark document. While I am sure than an equivalent would have come about sooner or later, this was it, and this is what begun institutionlised, protected, civil rights.
Very - yet we seldom think about it.
As an american who's constitution was influenced by the magna carta, I guess you could say Im influenced indirectly by it.
Oh, immeasurably! Imagine! No Magna Carta.
What exactly is that?

true - I was in Runnymede the other day - seems the MC is not as relevant to us as we think - the monument in Runnymede was erected by .... americans!

Oh yes, I used to live down the road from it! =) I assume you saw that they have given the Americans their own patch of land in that area too, for JFK. I suppose the Americans paid for the MC memorial due to its relevence to the U.S. Constitution.

Yes.. I knew that! Beautiful place to live!
I hugged the monument - well, it is the right shape to hug!
I didn't get time to see the RAF memorial though - I was sitting at 6.56 pm admiring the MC monument when i looked at the wee leaflet, which stated that the car park would close at 7 pm, and all cars not removed by then would not be released until the car park opened at 7.30 am - so Runnymede became Running Me! as I dashed back to my car!

hahaha =) I didn't ever go up to look at either of them! I stood sort of near and looked. It was muddy and rainy though so I went home!
