Do you think there is any merit in comparing al-Qaeda to the founding fathers of the U.S. and Osama Bin Laden to George Washington, as Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is alleged to have done under torture?

    No, I do not. Firstly, the founding fathers of the US did not deliberately target and attack civilians. Secondly, they had a widespread movement for freedom of their own homeland, they didn't attack in other's homelands. Thirdly, they had a goal of bringing more rights to more people, and giving freedom of expression, religion, etc to more people. Fourthly, they based their theories on previous political systems and the theories of prominent sociologists and philosophers (most notably John Locke).

    Some merit. If he really said this under duress, he is giving us a unique insight into the mindset of those who planned 9/11. Although there is no evidence that George Washington deliberately targeted civilians, the British certainly regarded the American colonists as traitors and insurgents when they were fighting them. It is always instructive to see things from the other guy's point of view.

    No. But I don't blame him. I think from his point of view he thinks he is a revoluitonist. He was trying to gain sympathy for himslef from his captors.

    Let him think what he wants to think, but there is no merit to it whatsoever.
