Seat belt would not be beneficial to a bike rider.
Think about it.
The same reason seat belts would not be beneficial on school buses.
This is actually an excellent question. Good for you. I guess if they were strapped to a motorcycle and it wiped out there would be hamburger all over the highway. I can't argue with the question of how motorcycles are allowed in light of a seat belt law though. +5
Try to lay on your sliding bike (often a safe strategy to let the bike take the road rash) while belted to the seat. Which leg do you like least?
Far better to have some sort of option where your body ends up than none at all by wearing a belt on a bike.
Motorcycles wouldn't be safe with seatbelts. I'd rather be flung off during an accident than have my face become the crumple zone.
Ok with motorcycles... operating on the road? Running without seat belts? Being operated by helmet-less riders?
It's safer in a car to be held down so the car doesn't crush you.
It's safer on a motorcycle to fall when the motorcycle drops, then for the motorcycle to continue bouncing away from you.
In many states, motorcycle riders are required to wear approved crash helmets.
