I've never heard of the thing with the rice but I can believe it. The thing is to let it sit for several days to dry out, then try it.
As you would do with a cell phone that has been in water, put your ipod in a ziplock bag full of uncooked/raw white rice for 24 hours. The rice will pull the moisture out of the ipod. Bury the ipod in the middle of the bag of rice so that it is surrounded on all sides.
Ive put 2 180gb classics through the washing machine 1 worked but made fuuny cracking sound other never worked just says go to apple support
Sorry to say but should have just flushed it down!
I have an iPod touch also and mine has gotten wet before but it wasn't put totaly under water...if it doesn't work in the next week it's done for but try putting it in a bowl of dry rice
I put mine through the washing machine, How stupid was that! Convinced it would never work again, I left it to dry in the airing cupboard for a day or so, after reading some advice on Google.
Believe it or not it works fine, no problems at all.
In most cases, if this happens, you still have a very good chance to rescue your iPod. Of course, there are a few things you need to remember. First of all, you need to remove your battery immediately from your iPod. You must not turn on the ipod as the power supply from the battery might cause a short circuit in your device. Just remove the battery, and whatever you do, don’t try to test whether your ipod can still play music.
Once the battery is removed, dismantle your ipod and dry or clean it as much as you can. You can turn a hair dryer on your soaked ipod and let it dry under a desk lamp / fan for a few days. Some ipod owners had also been known to use the unusual method of leaving their soaked ipod in an oven and guess what? It worked. After drying the ipod, you can reassemble it and reinstall the battery. Normally your ipod will be as good as new and will have recovered its functions.
