Help answer this question below.
I just go and take it as it comes.
While traveling in big cities I just
adventured randomly, not planning
much of anything.
It was fun in a weird way. But I won't
do that again.
I try to make plans in advance. It saves money and time.
Best vacation is a vacation that's not planned planned out.
Sometimes we do and sometimes we don't.
I'm pretty meticulous about planning a trip..estimating departure and arrival times, gas/potty stops and stuff but I also like to keep it fresh and if it is a casual trip and not a business one, I usually leave it up in the air as far as the sleeping arrangements go..especially if it's just an overnight and not at the final destination...
The good: found some really cool, interesting, unique little places to spend the night!
The bad: well, I could go on for days about filth, bugs, wretched food, and even getting stuck with a discarded hypodermic needle someone left under the sheets of my bed.
Option 2. Just drive in your car that gets 16 MPG, and you know where you're going until you get there. Best way to vacation, and it being so unseasonably cool this summer, could enjoy the car heat more this August.
Planning ahead can be good and helps familiarize you with the coming territory, but there are times when the time for planning isn't available. Spontaneous trips are more adventurous and with any amount of luck, can be fun too.

Do you know where to go when you want to play in the snow? Lassen Volcanic Ntl. Park in northern California. 2 days ago hubby and I did it.

You're reading When you are taking a road trip do you plan ahead to where you might want to stop and book a hotel room or just hope you can find one (a decent one) when you decide to stop?
