You may be unaware that Wanda Sykes is a lesbian. Actually living with her partner about 15 minutes from where I am sitting now. They even had a baby not too long ago.

"that's so gay" refers to "that's so stupid"
Perhaps that is what offended her.
Granted she is a comedian who can be vulgar and offensive, but I'm sure she doesn't substitute the word 'gay' for stupid.
