Help answer this question below.
The name or "level" of a credit card is just a marketing technique to get you to enroll.
I've heard American Express has a black card, I've never seen it, but I've heard it's the highest level card that you can get
Gold fish, Platinum, Jumper, American express, Diners.
The only level difference is the rate charged for borrowing, other than that it is just an attractive name of the card. e.g Diamond, Rolls Royce, Silver Shadow, Jewels etc.

The different cards have different amenities with them. The Gold Card, the Platinum card, and now the Sapphire card each have different amounts of free travel insurance coverage, different interest rates, different free product warranty extensions and other free amenities. I now have had each of these three, and I want to know what the others (if any) are. Yes, it is a marketing ploy, but there are also more advantages with each level.

A "normal" credit card's amenities can be upgraded as well, especially if someone has good credit. I have the same credit limit and travel insurance, and a lower interest rate with my plain ol' MC, compared to a friend of mine that was given a Platinum MC last year.
