Help answer this question below.
Depends on the value of the car and whether or not there is a loan and your finances. If 13000 is close to half the value of the car you may be able to convince your insurance company to total it for you and give you a check for the replacement value. They will be reluctant to do this because they know that a repaired wrecked car is worth less than an unwrecked car and they would rather have you eat that expense.
If the car has a loan on it you will likely have to get it fixed because they won't issue a check to you but rather the body shop and you or perhaps the loan company and you. Just go to the most reputable repair shop - preferably the dealers body shop. They won't be the cheapest but your insurance company will have to pay for the repairs at the location you choose in most instances. Insist on a long guarantee. A lifetime guarantee on the repairs is not out of line. Do not accept a 90 day or six month guarantee or some such. Try to get the repair shop to include a free car to drive while they work on your car. This will discourage them from taking three or four weeks to get the job done. This has happened to me. Needed more parts, someone was on vacation the week that something special had to be done. Forgot to fix something and had to have them keep the car the day I was supposed to get it back. Had to special order a part. etc, etc.

You're reading What is the best thing to do if car was damaged in a no fault accident and it costs $13000 to fix it. Insurance will pay for it. Im just afraid they wont do a good job fixing it & it wont feel as the same car again!
