Physics and engineering, and to a lesser extent law, are always changing. I am a programmer of 20 years' experience, and I can assure you I have no idea what the world of computing is going to be like in 10 years' time. Even 5 years would be stretching the limits of what I can predict with any certainty. I have no experience in accounting at all, but the likelihood is that accounting won't change all that much - you'd be able to do accounting in 10 years' time with the stuff you've learned this year.
Nothing. For each their own. It all depends on what you find interesting.
I think the thing is, with physics, engineering, law, etc... there is more of a sense of accomplishment to make up for the boring aspects.
