When you ask if you look fat, do you really want to know if you look bad or are you looking for a boost?

I always want to know if I look bad, but I have to watch who I ask. Not everyone has the same judgement I do.

If I ask someone if they think I look fat, I suppose that I'm asking because I really want to know their true opinion -- not a lie to make me feel better.

Yes. I may not be female, but I jumped on that grenade years ago. Leave it be, and make her feel good. Harsh truths are unwelcome when one can feel good.

I think it depends upon the female and the situation. There are alot of times where a woman will ask that question because they are fishing for a compliment. So in that instance, yes it is to make themselves feel better. Some women ask in all honesty, because they don't want to go out in public and look rediculous or fat.

i'm a female & i don't feel the need to ask my man if i am fat. therefore, i have no fucking idea what the thought process is behind that! it's nice to be resurred of conforting truths, but if it's a question where you're gonna get a "no" regardless, i'm not seeing the point either. now, i'm not going to actually kill you for asking that. lol

1) I know it applies for many human females, but I don't have information how it would apply to other females. 2) I think this is the communicative character of women, that they like not only to rely on themselves, but also like to ask for the opinion of others. Even if they are lying to please them. They would probably be upset if one were too honest. It makes them certainly feel better. 3) They love to get compliments and encouragement. Me too!

I don't need to ask I already know I'm fat. I get the nastiest look from my husband when I say it though. I just turn to him and say, "Hey at least it's not my fault!" It really isn't, my thyroid is messed up from a car accident....my metabolism is next to nothing! Anyway, most of the time we need to feel wanted...so next time your lady asks if she is fat say no and jump her! I bet you'll have some really great times!! :-)

Yeah, I think it's because it makes them feel better. I'm not a women but I'm sure that is why.
