  • I think it's just a bruise. I don't think fungus is broiwn often. But if it doesn't go away, I think you should see a doctor.
  • Nail fungus is a disease of the bed of the nails and cannot be easily treated with topical treatments. It causes the nail to be misshaped, brittle and discolored. What you probably had was a mildew, often called a fungus. It is easily treated topically and is often green or brown in color. It doesn't usually cause any pain so what you have may be a bruise. If it doesn't go away in about a week then you may need to see a doctor.
  • Sometimes fungus can appear as a small brown patch, but it's rarely painful. Likely you've damaged the nail from high heel use. Keep a close eye on the patch and if it gets bigger or doesn't go away, you should go see your nearest podiatrist. Nail fungus just doesn't work well with topical medication - it's better to treat it oral medication.
  • I don't think it would reappear overnight like that. Most likely something else.
  • this will sound strange but in the paper a Dr. Gott recommeneds vicks vapo rub. Rub it on every day and within a week it should be almost gone. People have written him back and said it works.
  • That would be a small amount of dried blood under the nail (turned brown) and it won't go till it grows out.(chiropodist)
