Help answer this question below.
Your chances are great, you have a police report, and they admitted it.
Sounds darn good, considering they admitted it to the police.
And don't worry about collecting from the children - the parents are responsible for their debt and their actions. Sue away.
Perhaps you can threaten to bring the little "angels" up on charges since they have admitted to the crime, and this might give them a little "incentive" to settle things before it goes to court.
What is your chance of obtaining a judgment and what is your chance of recovering your loss are two very different questions. Assuming the acts were truly vandalism (i.e. intentional acts), your likelihood of obtaining a judgment is very high. However, the judgment will likely be against the children, and children generally do not have $1,330.87 lying around.
Go to small claims court if the parents will not pay. In my state the loser also pays the court costs.

You're reading My truck was vandlized by neighbor children, Estimated cost $1330.87. Got police report and kids admitted to cop to doing it. People refuse to pay damages and want to go to court because of cost. What are my chances of recovering my loss in court?
Comments
Agreed. Small claims court should make short work of that case.

Thay got a lawyer and they say he said the estimate was too high and told them I needed too get two more estimates.

Sounds like their lawyer knows it's an open-and-shut case, and only wants to save some money. Probably the lawyer's fee is more than the damage... not a very good trade.

I agree. I think their lawyer told them they indeed had to pay for damage but that if they could get a cheeper estimate and pay less money do it.
bastards...people just don't want to take responsiblity of their children.
