You want to go to a psychiatrist so you can get drugs if necessary.

psychiatrist prescribes meds. the other doesn't. Psychiatrist usually see a patient for 15 minutes and the other usually does the actual counseling for an hour. Psychiatrist is usually once a month and the other is usually once a week.

A psychologist would attempt to uncover the root of the problem - whereas a psychiatrist pretty much just deals with the symptoms by prescribing medicine like the other answers said.
