Help answer this question below.

Two part question. I have what I thought were hard links on/to my site their url on my site mine on theirs yet alexa and google show nothing? And what is a good place to go for seo/social network promoting advice/software even if it isn't free?

    I did hear a rumour that Alexa will not show links unless that site is a certain page rank.

    SEOtools are good for advice.

    Firstly, the incoming links TO your website MUST be from a site that has relative content. In other words, if your site is about dogs, dont look for links from other sites that are about river rafting. Look to exchange links with sites that have the same type of content.
    Secondly, unless you have submitted your site to the search engines, Alexa won't even know about it. Start by making sure your site has a sitemap file. Submit this file to the engines. But be patient. Search engine spiders are funny creatures. They take time, but they will come! be patient.
    Third, if you want to learn more about using social media for marketing purposes, add me as a friend on MySpace and stay tuned to my blog. I will begin adding this type of stuff on it shortly (i am new to myspace). Best of all, the information is free!
