    Media is the plural of medium, so news media are all the news gathering and publishing organisations.

    While you still have your established “print media”, major and small-town newspapers, the television media, and radio.

    Now though, I am sure that you have to include the many independent bloggers and journalists that go around shooting news stories on their cell phones.
    These independent might seem small, but they have, and will continue to have an impact of how the public receives the news.
