No; I grew up in a large city that was part of the New York metro area. I grew up in a turbulent time marked by rioting and a lot of changes. It wasn't a great time to grow up there. Maybe generations before were; but not at that time. It was hard and you had to be really tough to survive. It was such an experience; that both my husband and I decided we didn't want our children to go through their teenaged years there and found an alternative where they would be near nature and experience more peace and calm than we ever did. Best choice we ever made.
Mine was the same as yours, it was a great place to be. Though we lived out of town a good ways on a ranch/farm going into town was always fun. My parents never had any worries about where us kids were, everyone pretty much knew everyone. Certainly it had its issues (what place doesn't?) but by and large it was a great place to be.
I am growing up in a small village but it's a lovely place to be! everyone knows everyone (unfortunatly for me because at primary my mum could know what I'd eaten for lunch before i even got home from school) and everyone suports everyone in a crisis! If you've just had a baby or a fire or a death. you get half the village round tidying your house or cooking you meals! It's lovely and a really great atmosphere to grow up in! plus the school was small (around 50-60 students) so it was eayser to get help from the teacher. everyonees friendly and you can't walk round the village without saying hello! at least once. Yup Wstbury, Shropshie is a great place to live!
The song "Small Town" by John Mellencamp kind of sums up my experience, aside from the "probably die in a small town". I don't live in a small town anymore. Looking back, growing up there wasn't as bad as I thought it was at the time, however, I did get out and I really have no desire to ever live there again. I live close enough that I can go back and visit whenever I want, and that's good enough for me.
i gre up in a nice little communtity that slowly went down hill... and we had to move but the memories are very nice! +5
Mine was a good place to grow up too, for the most part. Parts of it were a struggle, but the best things in life are won by struggling.
yah a small town. i always wanted a drivers license. just to go somewhere. when i got my license i found out there was no place to go. it was a good experience. i didnt realize the value until after i left.
I grew up in Smalltown USA. I moved back its a great place to raise kids. I haven't locked my doors or taken the keys out of my car in over 20 years.
as far as growing up it was ok, but as I got old i got sick of it because it seemed like most just got stuck in a narrow minded mentality. Somethings were good like stuff being close but after awhile its like you had no privacy.
What is up with Giorgio Tsoukalos' freaking hair? It get crazier every time I see him. Does the guy fly or take a space portal to the set?
