@Greek, I don't quite understand what you mean by "they are still in touch with their history". Curious because I do genealogical research and have some Scot ties. Is it only those who are actively involved with their clan research?

What I mean is that here in Scotland through everyday life. highlanders are more aware of their history than lowlanders
