  • They notify you of your crime, but it's pretty vague. I think they got categories they choose from. I got "being offensive". I think that was for swearing too much. You can get spam, too much downrating or like, asking too many nonsense questions or whatever, but they don't actually refer you to what specific thing, or things, that you did. I guess you're supposed to know though, mostly I would assume that most people precisely know why. And what happens is, you can view questions and answers, but you can't answer them, and you can't see comments anymore. Also you can't give or take points away. Oh and they also tell you how long the penalty will last, and then the message ends with something like-"We hope you will return to us as a more productive and positive member of the community".
  • They told me excessive cursing, I was banned for 72 hrs. I smashed my computer with my keyboard so I don't know what I was banned from doing.
  • Yes, it will say in your email why you were placed there. It could be general, like offensive, attacking others, vindictive downrating, voluntary request or something specific. It will also say for how long you will be there. If you feel it was unfair you can always write back and ask for clarification. If they feel it has merit, they'll get back to you. If they don't respond, that means 'no'. You can't post anything while you are in the Penalty Box. That is what the fine is. You can visit and read all posts, just can't participate.
