the fundamentalists of many cultures do not see their wives as people but merely an item of pleasure for themselves to do with however they please... add a dose of sadism or alcoholism or a horrid temper and this results... it is a crying shame but it is their culture... the people of the culture much change from within not with our influence

I heard an Afghan man interviewed today on TV. He was saying that we Americans just don't understand their culture. Horse puckey. What's so mysterious about misogyny and abusive male dominance. I understand those things perfectly. They are odious. Any culture that embraces such ideas is cutting its own throat. They are throwing away 50% of the creativity and productivity available to their nation because these little boys in men's clothing are too cowardly and insecure to relate to their mates on equal terms.
