none. It will be for you. she is too small to have much of a relationship with a dog.She will lack the understanding of how dogs behave. It will always be your dog.

  • Any dog that you're prepared to take care of.A child this small can't have her 'own' dog.Golden retrievers are known to be great with kids.Very protective.*+++++*

labs are good "sturdy" doggies for kids, playful and friendly, dobermans are very loyal and protective..whatever you get, get a puppy, so they can "grow up" together. good for you to get a doggie, it teaches valuable and critical character traits, such as compassion.

Go to your local shelter and get a lab or lab mix. golden retrievers, shepard crosses....But make sure you are willing to keep it for the rest of it's life, and willing to take care of it, since your little one well, is little. good luck:)

I really think she's too young, partly for the safety of the dog. She's just not old enough to understand that she can easily hurt the dog. If you must get a dog, find one with a good temperament rather than some high-strung breed. A mutt from a shelter would be great.

    From www.gopetsamerica.com:
The most common mistake parents make when buying a family dog is choosing a dog which is cute or the right size rather than considering breed and temperament. When picking a breed or mix, it is important to consider the children who will be with the dog. Dogs should be solidly built—able to take roughhousing by children—and patient and gentle by nature. Although many breeds are good with children, the dogs listed below are most often recommended by veterinarians, dog trainers and animal behaviorists—professionals who handle dogs every day. This list was compiled based on the information from "The Dogs' Most Wanted: The Top 10 Book of Historic Hounds, Professional Pooches, and Canine Oddities" By Alexandra Powe Allred.

The list is too long to copy. You can see it here:

most large dogs are good ... i find greyhounds to be a most docile breed, loving but a little slow to learn, there none agressive and are 60mph couch potatos

  • I have done extensive research on this and discovered that the best kind of dog for a small child is a stuffed one. They come in a multitude of colors. Never get snarly, Don't need to be walked, Don't need to be fed or watered and above all don't need to put up with little children pulling their tails and ears or poking them in the eyes. Even better is a child this young usually doesn't even notice that it isn't breathing. Excellent choice in my view.
