In L.A. you can park at some places on every day but Tuesday, the other side of the street not on Wednesday, and other days not 3 to 5 p.m. It's easy to get caught, say you're off on Tuesday, you sleep late and don't move your car.
I'm guessing you've never lived in NYC with a car or any big city. It's bizarre.
I reckon for half of them it's just laziness, and the other half are terrible at parking. Particularly parallel parking lol ^_^
Playing the cat and mouse game of illegal parking has its appeals.
NYC checking in. You need a UN interpreter to figure out some of the parking signs. Traffic enforcement seems to hide behind trees just to pop out the second your meter expires. That's just on the one in a million chance that you get an actual parking spot. And don't park one millimeter too close to a fire hydrant or you'll find your car towed and yourself about $350 poorer. But if you want to pay to park in a garage in certain areas of midtown, be prepared to pay $40 for one hour. It's a jungle out here!!;)
Cuz the parking lot is to far from my class.
I dunno. Doesn't life make plenty o' other demands for your attention w/o having to worry about some picayune detail like parking yore @#$%'n car?!
;-)
They're counting on the odds being in their favor: They'll be done and gone before parking enforcement comes by.
Time pressure, sometimes. If you're running late, you tend to take the first spot you can find, legal or not. :-)
Sometimes it's an emergency.
Now where's the fun in that?
Laziness and thinking they won't get caught.
too lazy or think they can get away with it
who knows,pride.
Because even if they do, the justice system will still seek to drain you of your petty wealth however they can, instead of like, preventing car accidents, rape and murder.
They think that they are being rebellious.
Because deep down they like paying voluntary taxes.
How annoying do you find looking for a parking spot?

What do you think is going through someone's mind as they drive the wrong way down the one-way lane in a parking lot?

You're reading If people don’t like getting parking tickets, why don’t they just park correctly then?

Yup. I remember that well from living in NYC, and I didn't even have a car at that point!

Yeah. I'm actually in Queens, where it's somewhat humane. But having a car in Manhattan is crazy!!
