Picasso was an egomaniac womanizer who was also intensely creative. I do not know, but I would bet, that his IQ ran pretty high. His behaviorial traits would indicate that. Why would you think he was on "drugs"? Because of his work? Or because of his behavior? Not saying that he wasn't on drugs... there've been drugs around for a long time... BUT, does frenetic creativity and drug use go hand in hand in the mind of people?

Either that or he had the talent of a demented five year old.

Definitly not. He was an incredibly hard worker and would make up to 40 finished drawings to evolve his idea for each painting. He was also possibly the finest printmaker of his day and a sculptor as well. These are highly skilled proffessions. It would be impossible to be high on drugs and attempt to execute this type of work sucessfully. His work looked different because with each new sketch for a project he attempted to simplify the subject to its most basic essentials. There was a slow evolvement of the idea before a painting was made. I for one dont like his work but I admire his persistence.
