Can a person who is on workmans comp apply for a home mortage?

    It is really up to the underwriter. I have written loans for the same situation. If you are not looking for 100% financing and your wifes income will cover the payments you shouldbe fine. You may need to have an explination written saying when you will return to work. Having at least 6-12 months reserves in a 401K or IRA account will help as well. you can read more at http://www.mkemortgage.net
