My Gram had a stylized top hat. It was lovely. Very 1940's.
It was velvet, had a small veil and perched on the head just so.
I would often wear that one when we played dress up.

Yes, wear both different occasions, wear bowler or derby hat when ride horses at cousin's thouroughbred stud farm and wear informal hacking jacket, wear tophat when wear formal hunt coat.
