Help answer this question below.
Either that,or my mother in law was there ;)
did you whinney like a horse?
Probably or you still have not had that shower from when you cleaned the house.
get a saddle and ride it =P save gas lol
What you need to do is try to lure him over to the dogs poop and when he goes for it you smash him in the Poop Head with a Bat!
They don't care who they bite. If its warm and has blood, they'll bite it. Trust me, you don't want to be the one it bites. They hurt almost as much as a bee sting. Been there, done that.
No, but i think it may have mistaken the doberman poop for pony poop.
Just because it's a horsefly doesn't mean it only bites horses. Your dog is an animal and that's good enough.
If your garage is dark, damp, warm, . . . and unkept or dirty and smells, then it's likely that fly has found a new home, especially if your Doberman is kept in that garage.
As a canine behaviorist and dog trainer I suggest your Dobe stay inside the house with you because if you're using it as a guard dog, that is the best place it should be. They protect their family naturally, not property naturally (of course they can be trained to, but the best way for them to know who to protect is to spend most of their time with those people and be with them instead of put away from them). I know I'll get hounded for this concern but thought I would pass my Doberman knowledge onto another breed admirer. I am just assuming you're using it for guard because why else would it be in the garage? Help me out here if I'm wrong.
The best thing to do to get that fly out of there is to aerate your garage for a day or so. Keep the garage door open (not the side door, the car door) on a sunny day and get your dog out of there too for that day. If you won't bring the dog into the house, tie him/her up outside under a tree so it has shade to keep cool (if extreme heat is present, then perhaps board him if no other options and can't get a cooling mat (made for pets) or kiddie pool for it to cool off in when needed. Make sure to have plenty of COOL, FRESH water within reach at all times.
After a couple days of aeration (I really don't think it would be more than two days) that fly should be gone. If you need to clean the place out do so then also to prevent flies from coming back.
Once again I give too much information but I hope it is valuable to you :)
You might have a bag of horse manure from your gardening in there and it's getting confused!
Unless by chance it is a dogfly
Yes, that must be it. What other possible explanation could there be for a horsefly to be in your garage?
Oh yes, I mistake mine for a big brown whale most of the time:0)
If you see the insect fly, what would you do?

A fruit fly landed on my apricot mango yogurt, and I didn't realize it was there until after I put a spoonful in mouth. Perhaps I'll die?

You're reading I have a gigantic horsefly hanging out in my garage. I don't have a horse but do you think it may have mistaken my doberman dog for a horse?
