You're reading Oftentimes, directions on a microwaveable item will tell you to leave the item set in the microwave 1-2minutes longer once it's done cooking? If it's done cooking. . . . .WHAT'S THE POINT IN LETTING IT SET 1-2mins. LONGER in the microwave if it's NOT on?
Comments
Okay! Well it is the directions specifically stating to let the item set 1-2mins. longer IN THE MICROWAVE that was confusing me. I just couldn't see the "rationale" behind it! But your answer certainly makes sense and I thank you for sharing it, Alec! Have a terrific day today! +6

They just don't want the risk of, for example, you spilling it over yourself while the hot-spots persist. In, for example, a high-sugar dish, the spots could be well in excess of boiling point, even when the average temperature is only eating-hot. They are also probably playing double safe: what does it hurt them to tell you to do the ultra-safe thing?
