I don't do it myself but traditionally Scots put salt on their porridge.

I hardly put salt on anything. I've occasionally put salt on popcorn, potato salad, and chicken salad, but I don't think any of that's weird. I can't imagine how the taste of salted apples or salted watermelon would be better than the taste of the fruit itself, but I wouldn't call that weird. I guess I'd have to have similar taste buds to those who enjoy those flavors to get an idea of that. Perhaps weird for me would be somebody putting salt on a light bulb, even if they ate it. ;)
