  • very true. a back tire blowout is obviously not as dangerous as the front tire.
  • Front tires should be the best. Alot easier to deal with a blown rear tire than a front. You dont wanna loss stearing, if you do, you are going to have a bad day!
  • The best tires should be the ones that steer the vehicle. If a back tire blows out, it ain't no big deal. If one on the steering axle blows, you have a problem. For that reason it is forbidden for truckers to put retreads on the front axle.
  • Definitely you should put your new tyes in the front. I am very surprised that an expert advised you otherwise.
  • Rosie, I read your later comment. Congratulations to you for using your own common sense and asking that the two new tires be put in front in spite of what the misguided "expert" said. My guess is that he/she is no expert and/or was so busy or stressed (or both) that he/she had a brain shutdown. Bless you for even thinking in terms of your daughter's safety while still having to work under your budget constraints. It reminds me so much of my mother who, during WWII when my father was overseas, worked three part-time jobs and got little sleep. Practically all of my trousers had patches on the knees but they were the best looking patches in my neighborhood. Though mom could not afford much, she had her priorities in order and took great care of me. No matter how old your daughter is, they are always our "babies" aren't they. I know I love my four children more than words can describe. By the way, I've had blowouts on both the front and the back and believe me, a rear blowout is much easier to control no matter whether it's a front or rear drive vehicle.
  • The best tires need to be on the front. I have had tires blow a number of times and never had a front (steering) tire blow. Blown back tire are easier to handle (blew one at 85 per). I did have a front one blow while pulling a vehicle behind a truck and it almost put everything in the ditch.
