Prayers can't stop cancer, world hunger or human suffering. Why would it stop glaciers melting?

your inactivity while praying might reduce the amount of heat your body sends into the air and thus keep the global temperature down by a trillionth of a fraction of a kelvin

No, but should God choose to answer them in the affirmative, he could.

it seems their original prayers were overtly effective...........

the new trend in human conscious thinking is: that if all thoughts were directed in a certain way to a certain event/thing, then it might manafest:)

No, but God can. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask Him to.

    No.
Jesus wasn't praying when he cursed the fig tree (Matthew 21:19), commanded the storm to cease (Mark 4:39), or raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:43), and he did say that we would do greater works than those (John 14:12), so clearly prayer is not the answer.

    It can't hurt.
But I don't believe humans can.

Well, to begin i'm a pentecostal so I belive that prayer changes things but god will not go against the set order of things. However He can and will cause somthing to happen so that the end result may be less catastrophic with less loss of life.

Maybe. I don't think it's the most effective method for effecting change, but I'm not one to judge.

Probably not. But, prayers can help those caught in floods...,I can vouch for this. Many were saved in some pretty miraculous ways. It cannot be explained any other way.
