  • Do you need it to bend, or do you need to hide it? You can have it pierced with two separate bars (if that's what your asking), but that does increase the risk that the piercings will move so that one long bar doesn't fit the holes properly. So if you choose to heal with separate jewelry, make sure your piercer is competent enough to custom bend your final barbell if necessary for a better fit. You can use PTFE, which is flexible and safe for new piercings, and a good choice if you're playing sports. If you mean to hide it, only glass is safe to pierce with. You can't use clear plastic and glass would not be the way to go in this case. But any sport and new piercings aren't a great combo. There's the risk of getting a ball to the ear, which will cause a lot of problems. More sweat and dirt on your piercings mean you need better cleaning, and overcleaning can present its own problems. On the other hand, activity keeps you healthy, which makes you a better healer and more resistant to infection, so laying on your couch for a year isn't the best idea either. If you don't want to put off sports, you'd be best off timing the piercing to a break in your schedule, so that it has as much time to heal as possible before you start playing. Take extra steps to protect it. If it's ever injured, baby it and expect it to take much longer to heal.
