Question

Help answer this question below.

My car lost the ability to brake two days ago. It had one puddle(br. fl) in the middle of the front axel area and an even larger one on the back driverside tire. Is there any realistic way I can fix this w/o going to a mechanic? I don't have many tools.

Call a tow truck and have it towed to a brake shop.

Your car is unsafe to drive.

Its rare to have two brake cylinders go out at the same time.

When your vehicle is on the rack at the brake shop, be sure to check for possible cuts in the brake line.

This is not an easy job to do yourself. most people do not have the parts or tools.

DEFINITELY get yourself to a mechanic ... while it may be a bit more expensive than you want to pay, what is the cost of your safety and the lives of others?

Wheel cylinders aren't the easiest thing to put in, and if you don't get it right, it may just burst again. It sounds like you have a master cylinder or caliper leak too, or maybe a split brake line in front. That isn't a job for a beginner with few tools. I think you'd better bite the bullet and take it to a mechanic. You might get off a little cheaper and get better work from an independent mechanic who isn't paying franchise fees. Call your local Better Business Bureau for a recommendation.

Don't play with brakes, it sounds like a line is broken. It will need to be replaced and Bled. Its not that expensive and its dangerous to do yourself if you don't know what you're doing.
