2006 Kia Spectra EX is running hot. It's not boiling but it is in the red zone. What is the problem?

    have you checked the coolant level? if it is low are any leaks present? When does it over heat? if the coolant is at normal operating level and there are no leaks...

    if the vehicle overheats and stays overheated without temp guage fluctuation you may have a faulty thermostat, cooling fan motor, etc. If the temp guage increases while you are driving and decreases while idling at a stop it would be a head gasket. If the movement of the temp guage is sparatic it could be a faulty guage but more then likely a bad ground.
