  • In my experience, finding a mechanic with many repeat customers is a good start. "Good mechanic" can mean he/she is cheap, honest, knowledgeable, ready to do the work right away, or a combination of these. To find a "good mechanic" consult local car clubs. Also you may ask your local police were they get there fleet servced. If your not confident you've found a good mechanic yet always get a second or third opinion when possible. Also remember drastic times call for drastic measures. A broke, good mechanic and turn to into a bad mechanic very quick.
  • just find an auto mechanic that works out of there garage or a small buniess then it will be cheap and they will do a good job and it wont cost u and arm and a leg for there hourly pay
  • As a lifetime mechanic myself, honesty is not regular in this profession. Your best way to find a Good Honest Mechanic is ask around. The guy in his garage will have limitations for diagnosis and information and usually behind in the techno world. If you find one, stay with that person. Sometimes a mechanic will sell a repair but not fix the problem, such as a mis-diagnosis. It may not be they ripped ya off on purpose, but needs to cover expenses and time spent. They should give breaks on parts used, maybe at cost, and charge minimum labor.A honest mechanic should advise the limitations he/she might have. Word of mouth works the best.
  • You have to be tight with them. Your relationship has to go beyond mechanic and customer. I've worked in an auto shop and it is the only or thing that works consistently. If you're both masons, go to the same church, attend the same AA meetings or have a secret sexual relationship, then you're all set. Otherwise, it's pretty tough. Seems mechanics pretty much screw with everyone unless they have some reason not too. If you are in a position to send a good amount of business their way, they'll probably take care of you too.
